Tips to Help You Sell Your Home

Tips to help you sell your home

First Impressions are Very Important

First impressions are key to getting the potential buyers attention. Be sure to keep your grass cut, bushes trimmed etc. It might be a good time to put some of the lawn gnomes away as well!

Don’t Start Remodeling

Be careful when starting new remodeling projects close to the time you want to list your house on the market. Buyers aren’t looking to purchase a construction zone! Also, some remodeling projects may not be worth it. Be sure to talk to your Realtor about the equity gain you may or may not see from a remodeling project.

Cosmetic Improvements are a Necessity

A fresh coat of paint goes a long way in helping to sell your home. And considering the small price tag, it’s a safe investment. Be sure to Spackle any nail holes or cracks before painting. You don’t want to give the buyers the impression they need to complete these tasks before they can move in and get settled. Remember, the home you are selling is a major investment, the better it looks, the more it’s worth!

Light is Lovely

A brighter house is a happier house. Make sure all functioning light sockets have working bulbs in them. Also, open those drapes and let some sunlight in!

What’s That Smell?

Cleanliness is the number one way to catch a buyer’s eye. Thoroughly clean EVERYTHING! Buyer’s will notice th cob webs and that’s not a good thing.

Make Yourself Scarce

Most Realtors who are showing your house to their clients will ask to show your house without you there. The reason is buyers won’t be able to picture themselves owning that home if you are there watching TV or doing the dishes. Buyers like to talk amongst themselves without you eavesdropping! Do yourself a favor and go get some ice cream while they take a look around.
